Personalized Medicine and PinMed
What
is Personalized Medicine?
Simply stated, it is the most
accurate way to analyze changes in
someone's health by keeping track of
the individual's normal or reference
values and comparing every change
against these individual reference
values.
Yet, even the best state-of-the-art
diagnostic systems are incapable of
such personalized analysis. These
systems perform analysis by
comparing individual's health with
some average values obtained from
large groups of people. Because
every individual is different and
unique, such a comparison can often
be inaccurate or even misleading.
To fill this gap, scientists and
engineers of PinMed have designed
smart systems that accurately monitor
individual's electrocardiographic
and other medical and health data,
compare this information with indvidual's normal values, and
immediately show the results in a
form that is understandable to a lay
person. At the same time, the system
can automatically send the
information to a doctor or a nurse
from anywhere, anytime using a
wireless communication.
This system has been thoroughly
tested in clinical trials conducted
at the
University of Pittsburgh
Medical Center and
Yale University.
It had been enthusiastically
received by the leading
cardiologists around the country and
received a high priority score from
the leading expert committee at the
National Institutes of Health.

History of PinMed
The origins of PinMed are in
several decades of research on
Personalized Intelligent Medicine,
and Medical Artificial Intelligence
that has been conducted by
physicians, computer scientists, and
biomedical engineers. The most
notable developments came from
Stanford University,
MIT,
University
of Pittsburgh,
Carnegie Mellon
University, and other research
centers in the United States,
Austria, and Russia.
PinMed's particular area of
expertise is in dynamical analysis
of cardiovascular functions,
detection of subtle but important
abnormalities when all other
diagnostic tests appear normal. This
early detection of subtle
abnormalities opens a window of
opportunity for physicians to
initiate corrective and preventive
treatments and, therefore, avoid
serious complications, side-effects,
and restore normal functioning of
the cardiovascular system.
The unique combination of expertise
allowed PinMed to develop
breakthrough solutions that optimize
information flow and streamline
medical diagnosis.
